Krystal Weir: Leading Physiotherapy for the Emerging Matildas

At K2 Health, we’re proud to have an outstanding team of professionals who not only serve our community but also play key roles in elite sport across Australia. One such standout is Krystal Weir, who has been serving as the Head Physiotherapist for Football Victoria’s Emerging Matildas and National Training Centre (NTC) programs since 2022.

A two-time Olympian in sailing, Krystal brings an exceptional level of expertise, discipline, and athletic insight to her role — both on and off the field. Since stepping into this leadership position, she has worked closely with some of Australia’s top young female football talent, playing a crucial role in their development and performance.

The Emerging Matildas program is designed to bridge the gap between youth football and the senior national team. It provides a high-performance environment for players aged 17 and above, and Krystal’s work ensures that these athletes are not only match-ready, but also physically resilient and supported through injury prevention and recovery.

A Dual Passion for Sport and Rehab

Krystal’s role with Football Victoria is just one facet of her impact. At K2 Health, she applies her elite sporting experience to deliver evidence-based musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation, working with patients of all backgrounds — from weekend warriors to elite athletes.

Her unique ability to integrate real-world high-performance sport with clinical physiotherapy makes her a highly sought-after practitioner and mentor. Whether it’s managing complex sports injuries or guiding young athletes through rehab programs tailored to football demands, Krystal brings the same level of care, precision, and energy.

A Leader in Women’s Sport

Krystal’s work is especially vital as women’s football continues to grow in Australia. Her leadership in the Emerging Matildas program represents not only her clinical skill but her commitment to nurturing the next generation of female athletes — helping them stay strong, injury-free, and ready to perform at their best.

We’re proud to have Krystal as part of the K2 Health team — supporting athletes on their journey from recovery to peak performance.
